Our mission is to promote and preserve the rich culture and arts of the Antilles by bringing them to the elderly population. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the beauty and diversity of Antillean art, music, and traditions, regardless of age or mobility limitations.
Our non-profit organization aims to enhance the quality of life of the elderly through the power of the arts. We strive to foster a sense of community and belonging among our participants by providing opportunities for cultural exploration and social interaction.
We are committed to creating accessible and inclusive programming that engages, educates, and inspires our elderly participants. Through our initiatives, we aim to preserve and share the Antillean cultural heritage, enriching the lives of our elders and fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Antilles among future generations.
The Antilles, also known as the Caribbean, is a region composed of numerous islands and archipelagos that have been home to various indigenous peoples for thousands of years. However, the region's cultural identity was profoundly influenced by European colonization, particularly by the Spanish, British, Dutch, and French.
The arrival of enslaved Africans in the 16th century also played a significant role in shaping the Antillean culture. Through the blending of these diverse cultures, a unique and vibrant culture emerged, characterized by its rich traditions, music, dance, food, and art.
The Antillean culture has produced many influential figures in the arts, such as the Cuban writer José Martí, the Haitian painter Hector Hyppolite, and the Jamaican musician Bob Marley. It has also given rise to numerous music genres, including salsa, reggae, soca, and zouk.
The Antillean culture has faced many challenges throughout its history, including the legacy of slavery, colonialism, and more recently, economic inequality and natural disasters. Nevertheless, it remains a resilient and dynamic culture that continues to inspire and captivate people around the world..
Our staff at the Festival de la Musique, la Culture et les Arts Antillais is committed and driven. We are a team of individuals who share a deep appreciation for the cultural heritage of the Antilles and a desire to share it with the elderly population.
Each member of our staff brings unique skills and experiences to the table, including research, program development, event planning, marketing, and community outreach. Together, we work collaboratively to design and implement programs and activities that engage, educate, and inspire our elderly participants, fostering a sense of community and cultural exploration.
As a team, we are driven by our shared mission to promote and preserve the cultural heritage of the Antilles, and we are dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the lives of the elderly population we serve. We are committed to excellence, creativity, and innovation in everything we do, and we believe that our work has the power to enrich lives, strengthen communities, and foster a deeper understanding of cultural diversity
